Please Welcome Baby Pari Jun!

Baby Pari Jun was due on May 4th, scheduled to arrive May 1st, but decided to make an early appearance for all of her relatives that would be out of town! She was born April 29th at 10:49 AM, a whole 7 lbs, 11 oz, and 19 inches long. She is as healthy as can be, and Mom is doing great too. We were all so excited to finally meet her. Congratulations Vadsana, Adam, Maly, and Alison!

Girls Night, Sleepy-Time, Mirror-Mirror

This past Friday Lucy enjoyed her second "Girls Night Out". We met up with some friends, enjoyed a nice dinner at Genghis Khan, and had coffee afterwards at Sarah K's place. It was so much fun, and we can't wait until next month's get-together!

As we all know, Lucy is not a big fan of sleeping. When she does sleep, she prefers to be cuddled up next to a warm body. Then, and only then are we guaranteed at least a few hours of precious sleep.

Lucy took a nap in her crib for the first time on Friday afternoon. She hadn't slept all day and we knew that we would be out late. She was vehemently opposed to the idea, but after 45 minutes of crying in her crib, she finally slept...for a whole 25 minutes!

Lucy has discovered the "baby in the mirror". She can jibber-jabber all day long to her own reflection. Ignore the dork in the background.

I'm Never going to sleep!

Lucy is definitely not a cat napper - she will nap for 20-30 minutes during the day at most. Otherwise, she is happy being entertained by her parents - who are not critically acclaimed thespians - but it is not difficult to get an 8 month old to smile - especially when her dad breaks out his red hot dance moves. Here is her typical expression around 9pm - wide awake and ready to party.

Beer Belly, New Car Seat, Sunny Days

Man, I think Lucy needs to lay off the booze. She's got quite the beer gut. It kind of just hangs over the waistband of her elastic pants. Charles and I need to stage an intervention. Maybe we'll do it on A&E's Intervention show. That way she won't be able to talk her way out of it. Seriously, look at that face. If she told me to eat mud, I probably would.

Lucy was getting way too big for her infant seat. So, Sunday Charles and I decided to go ahead and get her a convertible. It was rated high by Consumer Reports AND is cute to boot. At first she was sad to say goodbye to the ride she's had the last seven and a half months, but...

when she saw how much cuter and more comfortable this new one is, she changed her tune.

Monday and Tuesday we met friends at a couple of local parks. Lucy decided to take full advantage of the warm sunny weather by wearing her cha-cha halter. Don't worry she wore SPF 50 on both days.

Tuesday, after a long afternoon with friends, jungle gyms, and long walks, Lucy decided to "catch some rays" while napping. As little as Goose naps/sleeps/rests, Mom is just way too paranoid about sunburns. We packed up shortly thereafter and made the trek home. We've had a such a good time with friends these last two days.

Easter Photo Shoot

As every parent knows, major holidays are all about dressing your children up and making them pose for pictures. I'm obviously no different. Here's Lucy wanting to wish everyone a "Hoppy Easter"!

As a child I remember Easter being a warm holiday. That was not the case this year, so we had Lucy sporting her baby Uggs, you know, just so she could keep the pigs warm. Nevermind the upper body...

She can be so serious at times. I love the girls' rocking chair. What is it about children's furniture that is so darn cute?

As Maly pulls out more silly faces, Lucy "eggs" her on with a thumbs up. Get it, "eggs", Easter egg hunts, get it?

The next three were all so cute I couldn't just pick one. So, here they are!

A cousins picture, but we're missing baby Tiona. She napped all afteroon. I don't think the word nap is in Lucy's vernacular.

Easter Wrap Up

The Horton Family spent Easter Sunday with the Smiths, both sets. After attending church we headed over to Adam and Vadsana's for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt. As is the Smith tradition, the "Easter Bunny" hides eggs all over the house and makes it impossible for the children to find them all in one day. As days and weeks and months progress throughout the year, the children will continue to find eggs, making Easter the holiday that never ends. What a silly Easter Bunny!

Vadsana (with Baby Pari), Art and Miss Laura. It's too bad that the island is covering Vadsana's baby belly. With three weeks left in her pregnancy she is sporting quite a tub, but seeing as it's all baby, I think little baby Pari ain't so little. She may be Adam and Vadsana's biggest so far. That's where my money is anyway.

Here I am preparing my most special dessert, Angel Lush Cake with Pineapple and Strawberries; three layers of angel food cake separated by a concoction of Cool Whip, crushed pineapple, jello pudding, and sliced strawberries. It was divine, if I say so myself. I'm sad that we didn't get a picture of the completed piece.

The quality of this next series of pictures are quite bad. I even tried to fix them in iPhoto. I suck. They're still pretty bad. Maly is sych a ham. I wonder where she gets it from? Lucy and Dad "participating" in the egg hunt. They look really into it, don't they?

The three active egg hunters, Maly, Alison, and Eric had to bring their eggs to the basket in the living room after each find. Here Maly look likes she's contemplating making some kind switch. So sneaky.

These two are so affectionate towards each other. Sisterly love is the best. I can't wait to see them with the little sister. On that note, we really missed Aunt Sue and Uncle Kevin this year. They were stuck in Manhattan. There's always the next family holiday.

Eric was quite the stealthy egg hunter. He looks almost panther-like seeking his "prey".

"Look what I found!"

What the action shot missed is Alison tackling Maly to the ground. Just Kidding! Happy Easter!

Asian Pears Teddy Bears

Everytime I feed Lucy baby food, she heaves (no exaggeration). I've come to the realization that she's probably going to skip the bland stuff altogether and move straight to table food. She had her first taste of real fruit today and couldn't get enough. She didn't do too much other than scrape her bottom teeth on it, but it's a start.

What month is it, seriously? In order to brave this crazy weather today, Lucy wore her wintercoat for next year. I thought she was going to swim in it, but it was only a little big. Anywho, here she is, my little pink teddy bear. There's that little tongue acion I referred to earlier.

Lucy hanging her head in embarrassment. The torture parents inflict on their children...

New Hairdo

What do you think of Lucy's new hairdo? It's a little too short to be a full mohawk; it's more of a faux-hawk. As much as she's rockin' it, maybe we'll reserve this style for hardcore concerts and mosh pits. By the expression on her face and the action in which she appears ready to push someone, she agrees. Or else she's stepping into character. Fiesty!

Happy once again, with her finger in her mouth. That's a new thing for her. She's also starting to playfully stick her tongue out. I've been trying to get a picture of her doing it, but she's quick.

Such a silly baby. It's all about Lucy. Is it just me or does she appear to be wearing lipgloss and blush? Only seven months old and she's already sneaking into Mom's vanity to play with the smorgasbord of makeup. That's my girl!

Long Day

Lucy doesn't quite have the endurance that Mom has when it comes to shopping. She was sacked out and decided to get really comfy. She kicked her sandals off, hiked her leg up, and was off to la-la-land.
